Summer Interns
Application Deadline: June 8th
Thanks to a grant awarded by the Vancouver Foundation (McFarlane-Karp Fund), Rest.Q is
able to hire four summer interns to assist with community education and animal-welfare work
at the sanctuary. Applicants must be between the ages of 11-15 and have a keen interest in
animals. Applicants are to send a handwritten letter that includes the following: i) a
description of who they are, including a contact telephone number, and ii) a description of
why they have chosen to apply to work at Rest.Q Animal Sanctuary - highlighting the important
role animals play in their lives. Applicants considered for the summer intern positions will
be interviewed and parental permission will be required for chosen candidates.
Each successful applicant will receive a stipend of $625.00 upon the completion of 60 hours
of animal welfare work at the sanctuary. This includes the preparation of a community project on
feral cats that will be presented at Mayne Island's Fall Fair, Saturday, August 16th, 2008.
Students from all the Gulf Islands as well as visiting summer students are encouraged to apply,
keeping in mind that students are responsible for travel to and from the sanctuary (rides to and
from the ferry can be arranged). Intern applications due June 8th, 2008.
Application letters may be mailed to:
